
Cheesemonger Championship Rehearsal Event

Street Cheese co-owner Courtney is traveling to New York in early March to compete in Cheesemonger Invitational: Masters. In 2023, she won that competition, which gave her a spot on Team USA—traveling to France in September 2023 for the world cheesemonger championships (Le Concours Mondial du Meilleur Fromager). Courtney placed 7th in that contest out of 16 cheesemongers from 13 countries. In 2025, she wants another shot at winning gold in both biennial competitions.
Courtney will be at Purple Cafe & Wine Bar – Stone Way in the back bar area to rehearse the five timed food service rounds for the Masters Competition. That’s where you come in: there is a lot of cheese involved in these rounds, and we need someone to help eat it all.
While anyone can come and watch the five rounds unfold, ticket-holders will have access to eat as much of the prepared cheeses as possible. Courtney will be onsite from 2:00-6:00 p.m. creating:
- a cheese plate for 1-2 people, using 4 cheeses
- a cheese-focused perfect bite using Parmigiano Reggiano
- a restaurant-style cheese dish using Stilton
- a large-scale decorative display following the theme, “Shades of Color”
- and a cheese “sculpture.”
Starting at 6 p.m., we’ll explain all of the displays and then begin serving cheese to the ticket-holders.
So let’s help our reigning cheese champion retain her national title and go back to France for some unfinished business (that is, winning world-wide gold).
What exactly does your ticket get you? Essentially, an all-you-can eat cheese feast, plus a chance to see a part of the cheese world that folks rarely have access to on the west coast. Think of it as a small preview of the big event going down in Brooklyn on March 2! Most importantly, we can’t let all this cheese for this massive display go to waste. Drinks are not included in the ticket price, but the bar staff will be pouring drinks for you to wash down your cheese with.
Feel free to show up before 6pm to catch a cool glimpse of a competitive cheesemonger doing her thing but the official Cheese Eating portion of the day begins at 6pm!
